Abstract Painting

I was born in Oakland California in 1966. At a very young age I was fascinated with nature and the colors it provided. I marveled how blue, orange, red and yellow could stand right next to each other yet look so perfect. Such balance was exciting to my young mind… and it is still nature’s colors that provide the canvas for my art.

My father and grandfather were my mentors. They taught me their skills as Master Craftsmen, instilling pride, precision and creativity into everything I do. The impact they had on me as a young man will be forever present in every painting.

My mother’s free spirit and lust for life was inherently gifted to me. My approach to art, which possesses adventure, a willingness to take risks, creativity and child-like curiosity, can all be accredited to her.

As a teenager, I would sit and watch the master house painters in San Francisco paint old Victorian homes with their big brushes.  One day, one of these painters took me under his wing and began teaching me these incredible techniques.  In time, I was being hired to design the color compositions for some of San Francisco’s most magnificent old homes that to this day add to the color and beauty of San Francisco.

However, I still had an unfulfilled yearning inside. Presented with an unexpected canvas in the corner of my loft, I began to experiment. What began as an emotional and spiritual release, became a daily obsession fulfilling me with the joy and a sense of accomplishment I had always desired.  That same passion and love for painting that overcame me then, still awakes me every morning with excitement and a deep desire to step inside my studio full of energy and create art.

My greatest inspiration is by far, people. My creativity seems to soar and thrive off the emotions and experiences from conversations with others that seep into my thoughts, dreams… and ultimately my paintings.
